About This Book
It is a picture book that tells the story of an abandoned dog, White, who was abandoned in a small seaside neighborhood, getting a new house. The arrogant and self-respecting White falls alone in a strange environment and gradually breaks his mind and body. However, he meets his neighbor's grandfather, who cares about life, and Sol, who is bright and cheerful, slowly regains his original appearance.
Writer Yoon Jae-in unfolds the story from White's first person point of view. This is because he wanted the reader to feel strongly about the events that White encounters after becoming an abandoned dog and the resulting whirlpool of emotions.
White, a dog from the city, immediately hurts his pride when his appearance turns into a monster because of his harsh outside life. The sense of damage increases enough to jump into dirty trash cans to avoid mischievous children. It is a symbolic scene in which White identifies himself with trash.
As soon as White falls to the bottom, a surprising change suddenly comes. The pineapple seeps into White's heart. Pinching the cramped opening of the trash can, Sol's heart is conveyed to White. At that very moment White raises his crouching body and pays attention to Sol. From that day on, White goes back to the campsite and waits for Sung Joon gradually.
Sol, who goes to kindergarten, always wears a mask because of her allergies, but she is cheerful and humorous. The process of changing the name of White to "Illuwa" and "Illuwa Ice Cream" under the leadership of Soli is bizarre and pleasant. Every time White's name changes, their relationship gets deeper and deeper.
