About This Book
This is the sixth installment of Manbok-ne Tteokjip, which has sold over 1 million copies (as a series) and is setting a new record for Korean children's books. The sixth volume, "Dongsil's House," tells the story of Yeowool's worries and wishes as she prepares to part ways with her pet. On the one-year anniversary of Dongshil's arrival at Yeowool's house, Yeowool prepares a gift for Dongshil, only to find out that Dongshil is very ill. She is very sad, but she wants to do everything she can for him because he doesn't have much time left. Watching her, Little Rascal decides to make a wish cake to help her and Dongshil.
In this story, we are introduced to a variety of whimsical rice cakes, such as medicine cakes that make pain disappear when eaten and plum cakes that make the body feel lighter. This time, however, the process of making the wish rice cake is particularly challenging. As she scrambles to find unfamiliar ingredients, she faces her first major crisis since she started making wishing rice cakes. As Yeowool prepares to say goodbye to Dongxil, we see her desperation and her struggle to fulfill her last wish, which is both sad and beautiful.
