About This DVD
If there's anyone who knows something about melodrama, it's certainly Director
Kwak Ji Kyun. Starting his career as assistant director for famous names like Im
Kwon Taek and Bae Chang Ho, Kwak made a splash with his debut film The Winter
Wanderer in 1986, starring Ahn Sung Ki and Lee Mi Sook. Then for 20 years it was
continued re-interpretation and re-discovery of the theme of love. Be it his
fantastic 1990 film Portrait of Our Youth or the controversial 2000 film Plum
Blossom with Kim Rae Won and Bae Du Na, Kwak always manages to tell interesting
stories.
Written by Kim Eun Sook (Lovers in Paris and Lovers in Prague), Kwak Ji Kyun's
first happy melodrama Fly High spotlights two young students entangled in a
peculiar relationship. Min Hyeok (Ji Hyun Woo of Golden Apple and Over The
Rainbow) is a handsome and talented singer and dancer. One day he meets a young
student named Min Hyeon (Im Jung Eun from Stairway of Clouds) who introduces
herself to a smitten Min Hyeok, saying "Hi, I'm leaving tomorrow. Sorry!" That's
where their relationship seems to end, but after two years that beautiful smile
returns to Min Hyeok's life once more, completely out of the blue. An ill Min
Hyeon makes him a strange proposal, starting a very intense, possibly very short
love story.
