About This Book
This is a story about a 40 year old man who is living in Busan in the summer of 1993. The author sets the scene by the salty ocean side in Busan. The protagonist is the manager of a hotel frequented by local gangsters. His boss is the right hand man of the gang leader. The boss secretly takes medications for his depression without his employees’ knowledge and lives holed up in his room. Such is main character, Hee Soo’s life. He is tired of constantly being surrounded by hoodlums and is even sick of the water front. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have anyone waiting for him to come home and he doesn’t have much of a dream.
Hee Soo decides to leave his boss and job of 20 years in search of something else. He begins to dream bigger and sets out to start a new life with his lover and her son.
