About This Book
Bernard Werber (born September 18, 1961 in Toulouse) is a famous French
writer of science fiction of the 1990s and 2000s.
Werber's style mixes different genres, notably the adventure saga,
science fiction from between the wars and the philosophical story.
His main work is the trilogy Les Fourmis ("The Ants"), which has been
translated in many languages, including English as "The Empire of the
Ants". Werber has written a dozen books, frequently self- and
cross-referencing each other. He has also produced a movie, La Reine De
Nacre ("The Mother-of-pearl Queen"), and written a play, Nos Amis Les
Humains ("Our Friends, the Humans").
He is also the author of two mystery and science-fiction novels, in
which the two main characters are journalists. The first one addresses
the issues of the origins of the human species (fr. Le Père De Nos Pères)
and the follow-up, with the same two journalists, addresses mysteries of
the human brain (fr. L'Ultime Secret). Moreover, he is the author of a
five-part trilogy on the after-life (fr. Les Thanatonautes, L'Empire Des
Anges, Nous Les Dieux, Le Souffle Des Dieux, and the upcoming Le Mystère
Des Dieux).
This is his latest work and it is the bestselling book in Korea as of
July 2007.
