About This DVD
'Of the people, by the people, for the people..'
Han Min-wook, the president of Republic of Korea. He does homework, dances,
plays the piano... for the people.
"I am the President..."
The youngest and the most talented president in the history of Korea, Min-wook
lives and breathes with the people by going undercover us a homeless man or a
cab driver. However, the death of his wife forms a deep void in his heart and
home, and his only daughter, Yeong-hee, is going astray. He is summoned to
school for the first time as a parent by Eun-soo, his daughter's home teacher,
and meets his match.
Ahn Sung-ki, the actor most becoming the president, finally plays the role of
the president in "The Romantic President", the first movie of its kind.
A movie about a president in Korea? Who will play the leading role?
Who else but Ahn Sung-ki, the people's actor? He has over 70 films to his credit
but has never played the role of the president. As a pillar in the Korean film
society and whom everyone looks up to, the character Han Min-wook is like his
other self. In the 'piano-playing' scene, he plays himself the piece 'Love is a
many splendored thing', the theme song of the movie 'Maternal Love'. The amazing
thing is that he has never played the instrument before but you would never
realize the fact since he manages to combine technique and emotion perfectly.
'Of the students, by the students, for the students...'
Choi Eun-soo, a teacher in Republic of Korea. If it's for the sake of the
students, getting fired after six months is fine by her
"She is such a troublemaker"
A new student appears and finds out who the school zzang and ggoltong (idiot)
is. This delinquent who borrows a cigarette from a classmate when going to the
toilet is a TEACHER? Yes, she is a teacher who disguised herself as a student to
grasp the situation in her new class. After getting fired from schools after six
months at the longest, she finally meets her match when she slaps the First
Daughter in order to admonish her, and delivers an upper cut to the president
himself. Will she emerge victorious in the battle?
Choi Ji-woo, usually the tragic heroine, is now a sprightly teacher!
The realistic makeover of Choi Ji-woo as a troublemaker at school may have you
doubt her past but it allowed her to finally cast aside her former image as a
'tragic heroine with a pretty face'. She even cut her hair short in her first
movie "The Adventures of Mrs.PARK " when the director commented that her
'impression was too weak'. Her continuous efforts finally made her a star in the
acclaimed TV series "First Love".
Choi Ji-woo plays besides the veteran actor Ahn Sung-ki in this movie, and shows
herself off as 'a woman in battle with the president'. They have already
appeared in the movie "Nowhere to Hide" together but this is the first time as a
couple. The great actor, as well as the staff at the site, spares no compliments
at her efforts.
