About This Book
This book explains and traces the origins of Korean mask dance. The mask
dance is a traditional form of drama performed by dancers wearing masks.
Its Korean name, 'talchum', came to mean all the traditional mask dance
styles performed around the country. This book is divided into two
parts: Part I is about the history and evolution of Korean mask dance
and Part II deals with comparative dramaturgy from the dramas of other
countries. By reading this book, readers can understand the essence of
this unique form of drama. In addition, a wide variety of vivid pictures
on each page attract the readers' eyes and help them to understand what
Korean mask dance is like.
Cho Dongil, the author of this book, has a broad understanding of Korean
