About This Book
Two parallel stories. On one side, death of a famous French neuropsychiatrist, Samuel Fincher (who just became the world chess champion against the computer Deep Blue IV); on the other, broken life of a modest bank clerk in Nice, Jean-Louis Martin, victim of a car accident to Locked-In Syndrome ("Immured alive", whose brain continues to function, the rest of the nerve system being paralysed). Connecting the two incidents, a couple of investigators already met in The Father of Our Fathers (Le Père de nos pères): the anti-violent "Sherlock Holmes of science", Isidore Katzberg, and Lucrèce Nemrod, beautiful scientific journalist of the newspaper Le Guetteur moderne. Keystone of their investigations: the search for "the ultimate secret" in the name of which Fincher, apparently died of orgasmic pleasure in the arms of his mistress, was assassinated. What confirms soon the murder of the doctor-legist having taken Fincher's brain during the autopsy......
