About This Book
Partially a detective short story, "A Walk in the Mountains" features a novelist
who repeatedly fails to create a good novel and his wife who bears all the
agonies of the failures. The man finally overcomes his frustration, gives up his
dream of becoming an excellent novelist and then buds a new dream for work by
doing chores at a gym. However, the wife's pain culminates as she has a hard
time coming to terms with remaining as the wife of a common man, not a writer.
This book was published as part of the Hollym Corporation Publishers' series of
short stories by well-known authors. Author Seo Yeong-eun was born in 1943 and
studied English literature at Konkuk University. Seo received the 7th Lee Sang
Literary Award in 1983.
